I’m Paul Muir, a singer-songwriter wth over 30 years experience, a seasoned live performer, multi-instrumentalist and studio recording veteran. I grew up in Scotland, spent many years in London and now live in Toronto, Canada. After bouncing around the internet trying to find a good handle (with multiple attempts), I finally settled on the pseudonym Lost Scot, as a nod to spending so much of my life away from home.
From 2007-2017 I was the lead singer and songwriter with rock band Albany Down, recording three albums of quality original material and earning awards for Rock Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year in 2016.
In 2024, after a lifetime of creating voices for videos and stories, I started as a freelance voice actor. I have a couple of pretty big projects in the works, and I’m hoping that when they (finally) release I’ll be able to use them as solid portfolio pieces.
After a long hiatus from music, to focus on my family and mental health, I’m writing and recording new solo material to release during the rest of 2026. This is the first time I’ve taken on the responsibilities of every part of the recording process – music, lyrics, instrument performance, vocals, mixing, mastering and publishing – and I’m really enjoying the challenge! Being completely independent means I’m not restricted to any one genre or a specific set of instruments, which means I’m free to do whatever I like, whenever I like. The process is slower without bandmates to feed off and keep me motivated, but I’m really loving the whole experience!
