VIDEO REVIEWS

Since 2016 I've been making videos on new and upcoming indie games. Originally this was as 30-Second Reviews, which was incredibly short-form video long before Tiktok and YouTube Shorts existed! It was a lot of work to manage though, with so much production needed to filter everything I could into such short video scripts. Later, I moved to a series called First Look, where I give my feedback on the first few hours of these games.

Most recently, I've embraced list-style videos with my new 5 Reasons to Play series. It's early days and I've had other obstacles to deal with, but I'm realy proud fof the first few of these videos!

WRITTEN REVIEWS

There are times when I either don't have time to script and produce an entire video, or I don't think a game really needs to become a full video. In those situations, I still write the review and you can now read them all over on Patreon. These are available to everyone who supports me, or you can buy lifetime access to all of them as a one-of payment. Sorry, but I still have bills to pay!

ESPORTS COMMENTARY

FIFA Cup of Nations 2020

I was asked to commentate on the inaugural FIFA Cup of Nations back in 2020. It was two national esports teams - Esports Scotland and Esports Wales - so I was definitely interested.

There wasn't much time ahead of the broadcast for the two commentators to get to know each other, but I feel like we built a rapport pretty quickly - especially when we both realised I wasn't going to be a neutral spectator!

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any record of it ever happening. I wasn't allowed to record it myself and I can't seem to find any archive footage. At this point, the only thing I have is a screenshot of the announcement tweet:

Sim Racing 604

I've been a fan of cars and racing my whole life. I used to sim race semi-regularly (Live For Speed til I die!) and I love watching esports races just as much as real life ones. I don't even remember how I connected with Sim Racing 604, but I was invited to their Discord as a potential commentator to replace someone who was going to be unavailable for a couple of races. I had a lot of fun with the existing hosts and when they asked if I'd like to stay on for the following seasons I was all in.

I was part of the Sim Racing 604 commentary team for a couple of seasons before I had to put it on hold to move house. During my time away there was some kind of drama and the commentary team disbanded. I still miss them.
